Algorithm
CRYSTALS-Dilithium (pre-standard)
Family: lattice.
Dilithium is a lattice signature scheme based on module lattices. It was the design submitted to the NIST process, and NIST later standardized a revised form as ML-DSA. Early submission-era versions use different parameters and details from the final standard, so code that follows them is not FIPS 204 compatible and does not interoperate with ML-DSA.
Safety: Medium
Why this rating
Security rests on module lattice problems, which have had less study than hash functions. The pre-standard parameters were superseded by the revised standard, so deployments should move to ML-DSA. No practical break of the submission-era design is known.
