Algorithm
Shipovnik
Family: other.
Shipovnik is a code-based signature candidate from Russian researchers, proposed to the Russian standards committee TC26. It converts Stern's identification protocol, which proves knowledge of a low-weight vector for a public syndrome, into a signature with the Fiat-Shamir method and the Streebog hash. Reference code exists in C and Python.
Safety: Low
Why this rating
Stern's identification protocol dates from 1993, but Shipovnik is a recent candidate with little public review. In September 2026 Fireblocks reported a complete forgery against both published verifiers, which never check that a permutation is valid. A verifier with that check is not affected, but no fixed specification has been reviewed.
